ALBANICH 2010
Fiona and Garry visited the Albanich show in Dumfries in Scotland this weekend. We had heard that the Scottish shows have great character and an atmosphere which is sometimes sadly lost in other wargaming shows.
The show was held in the excellent Carndale Hotel, in the Park Suite and we thoroughly enjoyed this growing show. Now in its second year Albanich was a delight. Rarely have we met a more likable bunch of people than those involved in Albanich and the local people of Dumfries. The rooms were carpeted, the hall well lit and the warm and friendly welcome that we received made a nice change from the sometimes impersonal touch that is often the norm in other shows. The dozen or so traders were in a good mood and the whole experience must rate as one of the most pleasant shows we’ve visited for years (and we’ve done our share).
The only critism that could be aimed at the whole day was the lack of numbers supporting it through the door. I really hope the traders stand by and attend Albanich as the hard work and great people involved deserve the continuing support. We personally, will look forward to travelling North for next years show and encourage others to consider the same. Surprisingly our journey of two hours was less than the majority of trips we have made from Lancashire.
We are also pleased that the Warrior Bazaar has also benefitted from our visit to the Albanich by way of picking up a couple of little gem stands that will not have been seen by the majority of English Wargamers.
We wish to thank again the organisers for their hospitality and wish the Albanich show every success in the future. Make Albanich a date for your diary for 2011.
